A good showing for VISION COMPUTING at the 1998 New Mexico Computer Expo. |
October 25, 1998 |
The 1998 New Mexico Computer Expo is now in the history books. The staff at
VISION COMPUTING would like to thank all the people who stopped at our exhibitor's
booth or attended one of our seminars. We received many good comments on our
presentations and enjoyed talking with Expo attendees who visited our booth.
This is the second year VISION COMPUTING has participated in the New Mexico
Computer Expo. The Expo is produced by ComputerScene Magazine and this
year the event was held in the Creative Arts Center at the New Mexico State
Fairgrounds in Albuquerque.
At our display booth we showcased the extensively renovated VISION COMPUTING
web site. The company web site is the centerpiece of our customer support,
information release, and marketing efforts.
We also had several drawing for free web services from VISION COMPUTING. The
winners of the web site prizes are M. McCall, P. Michael,
L. Goddin, and S. Palmer. VISION COMPUTING will be designing and
developing web sites for each of these winners and we anticipate the sites will
be on-line in the next month or two.
Over the 3-day event, VISION COMPUTING owner Mark Leo-Russell presented
several workshops on web site development. Slides from the seminars are
available on our Seminars and Presenation web page
or by using these links.

Creative Arts Center
New Mexico State Fairgrounds
Albuquerque
|
The 1998 New Mexico Computer Expo opens today and VISION
COMPUTING returns with an exhibitor's booth and several seminars. This
year the Expo is Thursday through Saturday, October 22-24 in the
Creative Arts Center at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds.
Our exhibitor's booth will feature information on our services,
demonstrations on image scanning and computer graphics, and drawings for
free web page designs.
Visit us at booth 316 to enter drawings for
free web site services and ask about our "grab bags."
In addition to our booth, we're also doing
two seminars on graphics and software.
Web Graphics: An Introduction To Concepts
Fri Oct. 23 9:30am Seminar Room 2, and
Sat Oct. 24 2:30pm Seminar Room 2
Learn the basic concepts of computer graphics with
emphasis on designing and producing images for use on your web site.
Topics will include graphic file formats, raster and vectors images,
resolution, color depth, lossy and non-lossy compression, and graphics
software packages.
Web Developer's Tool Kit - Software on a Budget
Fri Oct. 23 12:30am Seminar Room 2, and
Sat Oct. 24 5:30pm Seminar Room 2
If you or your company are beginning to prepare
materials for your web site you know how expensive software can be. In
this workshop we will review various web development programs and
compile a complete software tool kit for less than $200. Freeware,
shareware, and commercial software will be examined including web
browsers, page editing programs, HTML editors and validators, graphics,
animation, clipart collections, fractals, and other utilities.
To get to the Creative Arts Center, enter the NM State Fairgrounds at
gate 4 on San Pedro and follow the signs to the Expo. There will be the
usual parking fees for access to the Fairgrounds.

VISION COMPUTING releases major overhaul to its web site. |
October 19, 1998 |
Today VISION COMPUTING rolled out its extensively upgraded web site.
The site has been undergoing a major overhaul and is finally to the
point it "goes live". Like most web sites, ours is a work-in-progress
and you will see a few things that aren't quite finished yet. However,
you will find our new design includes a refined look-and-feel,
some navigation enhancements, and several new content sections. Check the
What's New page for details on recent changes to our web site.

VISION COMPUTING commits to the 1998 New Mexico Computer Expo. |
September 1, 1998 |
The decision was simple for VISION COMPUTING to return as an
exhibitor and presenter at this year's New Mexico Computer Expo.
The Expo, hosted by ComputerScene
Magazine, is scheduled for October 22-24 at the NM State Fair
Grounds in Albuquerque. After the very good reception we received from
the attendees of Expo '97, deciding to return was one of our easier
business decisions this year.*
In addition to an exhibitor's booth on the Expo floor, we anticipate
presenting several seminars on graphics and web site design. We will also
have activities at our booth including demonstrations, drawings for free
web site designs and "grab bags."
Three major changes distinguish this year's Computer Expo from previous
events. First, a change of season. The previous four Expos occurred in
late summer. This year the show moves to fall. Second, a change in
venue. In other years we went downtown to the Albuquerque Convention
Center. This year we move up to the "heights" and the Creative Arts Center at
the New Mexico Fair Grounds. Third, a change of time. Whereas other NM
Computer Expos ran Friday through Sunday, this year's event runs Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday.
*See our Events 1997 page for details on
VISION COMPUTING's efforts at last year's Expo.
